Cleaning before moving out

Cleaning during a move can be a challenge—but it doesn’t have to be.
We’ve put together a list to help make your final cleaning easier.

Prepare for the final cleaning in advance

Start early and spread the cleaning tasks over the weeks leading up to the move. Create a schedule so you know exactly what needs to be done in each room or area of the home. Having a plan will help you stay organized and on track as you clean each space.

Don’t try to clean your entire home all at once. Begin with a small task or a single cupboard and work your way through the checklist step by step. This way, you'll stay motivated and can focus on one thing at a time.

Final cleaning checklist

  • Empty and wipe down all cabinets.

  • Clean the kitchen and kitchen appliances.

  • Scrub the stove and oven. Don’t forget the range hood, oven trays, grease filter, and behind/alongside the stove.

  • Empty and clean the fridge. Defrost and clean the freezer.

  • Deep clean the bathroom. Clean floor drains.

  • Wash windows, balcony glass, and ventilation vents.

  • Remove stains from all surfaces, including door frames, radiators, and walls.

  • Vacuum and mop all floors. Don’t forget to clean the attic and storage units (like the basement).

Cleaning might seem like a big job at first, but dividing the tasks over several days makes it much more manageable. It’s never too early to start!
