Frequently asked questions about our moving service
How much does a move cost?
The price of a move is based on an hourly quote, so there is no fixed total price. Each quote includes a minimum charge based on the estimated duration, and billing is per started half hour. Charging starts when the moving truck leaves our depot in Puotila, Helsinki, and ends when the truck returns. In the Helsinki metropolitan area, depot travel is charged for a maximum of 30 minutes each way. A 10% surcharge applies on Saturdays and 75% on Sundays and public holidays. We do not offer flat-rate quotes, because they always include a safety margin that you pay for even if the move goes faster. The quote is free and non-binding, and you can request it online or by phone.

Opiskelijamuutot operates in Southern Finland, with a focus on Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. The service covers both moves within a city and moves from one town to another. The company has been carrying out moves since 2013 and completes over 2,400 moves a year.
Can I rent a van to do the move myself?
Yes. If you handle the transport yourself, you can rent a van on a self-service basis through PakuOvelle.com. There are three sizes to choose from: Pikkupaku (about 1.5 m³), Citypaku (about 6.5 m³) and Isopaku (about 11 m³). Sizes vary by pickup point. A self-drive van suits smaller moves. Our 20 m³ moving truck is enough for the belongings of an apartment of about 40–50 m².
Can I get moving boxes and packing supplies from you?
Yes. Moving boxes cost 17 cents per box per day to rent, and the delivery price depends on your address. Customers who order a moving service can also borrow boxes free of charge if they collect and return them themselves at our location. Packing supplies can be ordered with the move or separately, and we also offer packing help.
Do you offer carrying help without a full move?
Yes. You can order carrying help only, meaning carrying and moving your belongings, without the full moving service. Describe your needs in your quote request and we will tailor the help accordingly. For safety reasons, we do not carry items such as pianos, large safes or items weighing over 150 kg.
